Two Chinese hardwood stands 硬木香几两件 19th/20th century 十九或二十世纪 The first with inset huamu top, on square legs with box stretcher, pieced skirt below top, the second with floating panel top above a recessed waist and open skirt, raised on square legs joined by humpback stretcher, with hoof feet. (H: 34 1/4, L: 13 1/2, D: 13 5/8 in.; H: 29 1/2, L: 16, D: 15 7/8 in.) Qty: (2) Property formerly in the collection of Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989), thence by descent Haon was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and was promoted in 1954 to the Foreign Relations Department as Manager of the European Office, London, England, until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Haon continued to live part-time in London into the late 1970s. It is believed that many of the Asian arts in his collection were acquired during this time in London. Condition report: Surface wear, water rings and stains, areas of filled to huamu panel, slight fading to timber, scattered minor dings and nicks; the taller one with cracks to top of frame, scattered water spotting
