A mirrored pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain rouleau vases, mounted as lamps 青花人物纸槌瓶改装台灯一对 the porcelain late 19th/early 20th century 十九世纪晚期至二十世纪早期 Each decorated with two meiren attending a pair of seated lovers in an interior with a phoenix candlestand and furnishings, the undersides with an apocryphal four-character Xuande seal mark, undrilled. (H: 18 1/2 in. (vase); H: 23 in. (overall)) Qty: (2) Property formerly in the collection of Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989), thence by descent Haon was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and was promoted in 1954 to the Foreign Relations Department as Manager of the European Office, London, England, until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Haon continued to live part-time in London into the late 1970s. It is believed that many of the Asian arts in his collection were acquired during this time in London. Condition report: The first with two repaired breaks to the mouth and scattered small glaze pits; the second with a few scattered small glaze pits and brown spots, a small minor glaze flaw to the body near the shoulder.
