PROVENANCE: From Audubon, New Orleans Private Collector. Dimensions: Heigth: 13.2 cm, Diameter: 18.3 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Incense Burner. Potted in shallow vessel form, thick and deep, drum body, round opening lip, raised with short three elephant legs. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine design color, depicted of flying Qilin through flowers bloom, foliage, interlocking tendril and circle of Ruyi patterns. Tree is not any overlap of the outlines, its well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. ?The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
