A black-lacquer kyosoku (arm rest) Edo period (1615-1868), early/mid 19th century Decorated in gold and slight-coloured takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with highlights of e-nashiji and kirikane with a pair of ho-o birds flying above flowering paulownia branches extending almost across the entire width and pine saplings, on a ground scattered with three Tosa kashiwa mon, the legs similarly lacquered, the underside of mura-nashiji; unsigned. 22.3cm x 63.7cm (8¾in x 25in).
