A mid-20th century German silver-plated copper singing bird box, circa 1940 probably by Karl Griesbaum Of rectangular form with rounded corners, the body with ornate chased decoration of putti musicians among foliate scrolls. Hinged central lid to reveal bird mechanism (defunct). The underside with flat chased decoration of foliate scrolls. Stamped underneath EB and METAL. Length – 9.8 cm / 3.95 inches Examples of singing bird boxes with the EB mark are also known struck with Karl Griesbaum’s mark, a prolific producer of these boxes.
