A mid-19th century Anglo – Indian silver water bottle (surahi), Lucknow circa 1860 Raj period, of globular form with a tall tapering neck with chased knop above a section of acanthus leaves, all upon a collet foot. The removable domed lid fixed by two double chains attached underneath the knop. The body with finely flat chased decoration of arabesques scrolls and rosettes between bands of palmettes, below the chased acanthus leaves a band of trailing fruiting vine. Traces of gilding to the palmettes. Height – 27.5 cm / 10.9 inches Weight – 410 grams / 13.18 ozt
