A set of six late 19th century Egyptian silver kebab skewers, probably Cairo circa 1880 by Karabet Cizmeciyan Each with cast terminals of flowers with splayed leaves surmounted by a bird. Each stamped with makers mark only to stem. (6) Length – 30.2 cm / 12 inches Weight – 292 grams / 9.39 ozt Mark: Kurkman, G. (1996), Ottoman Silver Marks, Istanbul: Mathusalem, p.94 A tray by this maker also marked with the customary standard mark for Armenian silversmiths in Egypt of ۹۰, was sold Christie’s 3 April 2009, lot 138 (£1,125 incl. premium) Provenance: Victor A.
