A large Alexander I early 19th century Russian 84 zolotnik silver charger, Saint Petersburg 1803 by Carl Frederick Brendenberg (active 1788-1821) of circular form with a broad edge and a reeded rim. The reverse with engraved scratch weight 3-78½. Fully marked to reverse for assayer Alexander Ilyich Yashinov (active 1795-1826) and maker’s mark (Postnikova 1512). Diameter – 38 cm / 15 inches Weight – 1546 grams / 49.71 ozt Brendenberg was born in Borga, Stockholm 1787, apprenticed 1785-86.
