A William IV sterling silver christening mug, London 1831 by John James Keith Of campana form upon a spreading circular foot with reeded rims. The body with embossed decoration of gourds with leafy stems and a bird attending to her chicks in the nest all against a textured ground, the front with a cartouche formed of crossed barley engraved with initials SC in flourished cursive script. The die struck handle with fruit vine and scroll junction. Gilt interior. Fully marked near rim. Height – 8.4 cm / 3.35 inches Weight – 136 grams / 4.37 ozt
