A CHINESE YUEYAO 'LION' WATER DROPPER.A CHINESE YUEYAO 'LION' WATER DROPPER. Possibly Jin Dynasty. Seated, holding his paws close to the body, the large head with small rounded ears pierced to the top and the sides of the mouth exposing sharp fangs, all decorated with an olive-green glaze, 7.5cm H. Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020). Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects.
