Three tempered steel Mughal animal saddle hooks, India, 17th century, each with the finial in the form of an animal's head, a bird, a serpent and a camel, with smooth neck which curves down from the animal's head, forming a sinuous s-curve before joining the U-shape that leads up into the vertical element bearing a pierced loop through which a leather strap would have been fitted, for suspension from a saddle or alternatively from a belt, bird 9.7cm high x 5.4cm. diam; serpent 9.6cm high x 5.6cm wide; camel 8.7cm high x 5.6cm diam (3) Provenance: The Geoffrey and Fay Elliot collection.
