Predella with the image of San Juan Nepomuceno, early nineteenth century. Carved wood, polychrome and gilded. Measurements: 111 x 169,5 x 11 cm. The present predella, made of carved wood, polychrome and gilded in white, has an image of St. John of Nepomuk in the center, framed by pilasters and soffits inspired by candelieri. Saint of Czech origin, acquires great devotion and roots from the seventeenth century. Juan Nepomuceno or Nepomuk (ca. 1340-1393) is the patron saint of Bohemia and the Spanish Marines. Alleged confessor of Sophia of Bavaria, he incurred the wrath of King Wenceslas IV by refusing to break the secret of confession, for which he was killed by being thrown into the Vltava River from the Charles Bridge in Prague. He is presented centered in the composition, surrounded by angels that give the work a dynamic character. Dimensions 111 x 169,5 x 11 cm.
