Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Late Ming Dynasty The flattened globular body rising from a short oval foot, the short neck flanked by a pair of lobed handles decorated with clouds on a turquoise ground, the body brightly enamelled with meandering lotus blossoms enclosing a stylised flowerhead and divided by ruyi-head band, all on a white ground, the foot and rim gilt. 20.5cm (8 1/8in) high. It is very rare to find a cloisonné enamel moonflask of such design on a white ground. Compare a closely related moonflask, second half of the 17th century, with very similar decorations but with a turquoise ground, illustrated by H.Brinker and A.Lutz, Chinesisches Cloisonné: Die Sammlung Pierre Uldry, Zurich, 1984, pl.204. See also a similar cloisonné enamel moonflask, late 16th to early 17th century, with a similar design of the handles and decoration, illustrated by C. Brwon, Chinese cloisonné: the Clague Collection, Phoenix, 1980, pl.21. Brwon著《Chinese cloisonné: the Clague Collection》,鳳凰城,1980年,圖版21。
