说明：本品与首都博物馆藏明代韦陀像风格相近。韦陀是佛教护法天神，又称韦陀天，中国常称其为韦陀将军。他原是印度婆罗门教中的一神，被佛教吸收后成为南方增长：天王的八大神将之一，居四天王三十二神将之首。传说佛祖涅槃时，有罗刹鬼盗取佛牙舍利，被韦陀奋起直追，将舍利取回，赢得诸天众王的赞扬，认为他能驱除邪魔，保护佛法。本品中韦陀为一年轻武将，身披胄甲，金刚杵拄在地面，双手扶之，体格魁梧，威武勇猛。 参阅：《北京文物精粹大系-佛造像卷（下）》，北京出版社，2004年，页88，图49
