A Painted Chinese Cizhou Jar The wide body supported on a narrow flat base, decorated in deep brown tones on a white-slip ground under a clear glaze with three large lozenge- shaped cartouches, one containing a fisherman beneath a willow tree upon which rests a basket, one containing a freely painted bird, its beak wide open, on a branch, and one cartouche with a flower, all below a band of scrolls on the high, rounded shoulder and neck, the rim and foot with a brown glaze, the base unglazed. Period: Yuan (1279‑1368). Height: 33 cm.
