A Tibeto-Chinese Gilt Bronze Figure of Avalokiteshvara Depicted in his eight-armed, eleven-faced emanation, cast standing atop an ornated lotus base, the principal hands in namaskar mudra, the other six radiating around the body bearing different attributes including a lotus flower and a bumpa, adorned in the fine jewellery of a bodhisattva, including necklaces, bracelets, armlets, earrings and five pointed crowns, a brocaded dhoti around the waist, a diaphanous shawl around the shoulders, the heads rising in groups of three, the tenth face wrathful, the eleventh the face of Amitabha buddha, the figure with cold gold, traces of colour, and set with semi-precious stones including malachite, coral and lapis, the base sealed. Period: Late 18th century (ca. 1800). Height: 32.5 cm.
