A Pair of Chinese Blue and White Vases and Covers Of inverted baluster form, the tall slender sides rising to a wide shoulder with straight neck, decorated in shades of underglaze blue with a continuous scene of peony issuing from rockwork, a songbird perched on one branch, an insect flying nearby, all below a diaper pattern collar at the shoulder in the form of pendant pomegranates, the neck decorated with floral sprays, the domed covers similarly decorated, the bases glazed. Period: Qianlong (1736-1795). Height: 35.5 cm.
