此件金蟾以和阗白玉制成，色微青，玉质细腻温糯。金蟾圆雕为兽形，侧首匍匐，头部留皮俏色，圆形双眼，口微凸，双耳后卷。身体宽扁，背部有脊线，三足作攀爬状。身体表面琢刻圆圈纹，并在双眼处及身体一侧纹饰之上装饰银钉，使得身体分为阴阳面。此种装饰工艺在古代玉雕作品中十分少见，甚是稀奇。
