A BLUE AND WHITE ARITA PORCELAIN ‘FLORAL’ DISH
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
The slightly lobed dish painted in underglaze blue on the show side with stylized floral designs and elaborate scrolling vines, the backside shows further stylized floral sprays and an apocryphal six-character Chenghua reign mark within a circle.
DIAMETER 18 cm
Condition: With a hairline to rim and a repaired chip with an associated hairline, otherwise good condition.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a third-generation member of the Holzapfel family after 1995 and has remained in the family ever since.
