Dimensions: 10-3/4" H x 8-1/2" W Chinese Ming Dynasty period, Blue Peony on Red ground moon vase. Potted in moon vase, thick and tall, with bulbous lower region, moon belly, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight mouth rim, emerge two archaic ruyi handles flanked from neck to the shoulder rim, create majestic handles, raised on short rectangle foot base with slight concave footing. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in iron red color under glazed base color which contrast against the blue fine color. Red is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck, symbolizes good fortune and joy and Blue stands for healing, trust and long life.
