A large Japanese satsuma vase, Taisho periodOf ovoid form and decorated in raised enamels with playful shishi amid flowering peony branches, a Shimazu mon to the underside, indistinctly signed, 44.5cm high. (repair to rim)Footnote: Footnote: Bearing a gummed paper label to the underside for Morris &pany, 17 St George Street, Hanover Square, London. The William Morrispany moved to its Hanover Square branch in 1917.Condition report: A 10cm section of the rim has been broken into two parts and visibly restuck. There is a hairline on the rim opposite. There is a firing fracture and associated glaze imperfection to the foot rim.
