A GROUP OF TWO UNUSUAL AND LARGE NETSUKE OF FISH
Japan, 19th century
The first a stag antler netsuke of a slender fish, the details are colored in dark green and red and the eyes are inlaid. The second a rare walrus ivory netsuke of a fish with open mouth exposing fierce teeth, the details such as the scales and the facial features are finely carved, the surface bearing a very good patina.
LENGTH 14 – 16.5 cm
Condition: Very good condition with natural ‘flaws’ in the material and a fine patina. The first missing an inlaid eye.
Provenance: German private collection.
