Qing Dynasty Blue Underglazed White Porcelain Covered Treasures Jar W/Buddhist Poem (From a Vietnamese Royal Family) - This covered treasures jar is made of a creamy white porcelain and decorated with a blue underglazed Buddhist poem. The jar has a metal lip on the cover as well as on the neck where the lid reaches the jar. Selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. The bottom of the jar bears a six character reign mark in blue underglaze. This piecees from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam). Measurements: 15"H x 11"W.
