PROPERTY FROM AN AMERICAN PRIVATE COLLECTION A FINE DOUCAI-ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' BOWLYongzheng six-character mark and of the period Of conical form rising from a straight foot to a notched rim, finely decorated on the exterior with a pair of five-claw dragons flying in mid-air, one enamelled in yellow and the other in green, each chasing a flaming pearl through multi-color clouds, the dragons' hind legs stirring up whirlpools and cresting waves at sea, the interior plain, at base a Yongzheng six-character mark in underglaze-blue within double circle. 7 7/8in (20cm) diam; 3in (7.7cm) high 清雍正 斗彩翻江倒海龍紋斗笠碗 《大清雍正年製》雙圈款 Provenance: Purchased on Portobello Road, London, in the early 1980's 出處: 1980 年代初期購於倫敦 Portobello 路 Bowls of this type are originallyplete with a mirror-image cover of slightly different pattern, but the design on the bowl alone remains powerful without the cover and has been favored by collectors and museums alike.
