A special Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This nicely detailed sculpture is 3-3/4 in. high and is carved from stucco. It portrays the Buddha with elongated ears, pierced lobes and large Urna. He is depicted with the classic serene expression and curly coif gathered into a top knot. This choice example retains the red facial paint found on the Hadda types. Mounted on stand. IV651
