Loetz (Austrian), an iridescent Phaenomen glass vase, c.1902, PG 85/5032, engraved ‘Loetz Austria’ on ground-out pontil, The body having a clear glass layer over pale milky-pink, the neck rim of triangular section and the bulbous body with twisted dimpled sides, decorated with a pattern of pulled threads and broad undulating bands at the top and finer bands at the bottom, in vibrant iridescent colours of blue, green, yellow, pink and mauve, 19.5 cm high, Property from a private collection, Literature: Ricke, Helmut et al, ‘Lötz Bohmisches Glas 1880-1940, Band I, Werkmonographie’, Prestel-Verlag, 1989, p.179, pl.189 (similar pattern illustrated on a different shape vase)Some bubbles and specks in the glass, from the making process. One of the bubbles has a small burst to the top surface - this is near the base on the edge of one of the folds. A couple of tiny abrasions. Light natural wear to the underside of the foot in keeping with age.
