Painted with iron-red, gilt and green enamels, the center depicting a flower bouquet in a vase, framed by an underglaze blue decoration of flowers, dragons and phoenixes chasing the flaming pearl, a narrow foliate scroll below the rim, the rim in cafe au lait. The exterior with two flower branches in iron red.Provenance: From the collection of Karl Emil Strømstad. Two old labels to base, one reading 'Strømstad 491'. Karl Emil Strømstad was an important Norwegian collector of Chinese ceramics. He has written numerous articles on the subject, including 'Fifty Shades of Green. Den fascinerende celadonkeramikken', and co-founded the Oriental Ceramic Society of Norway (NSOK). A large part of his collection, which he built from the 1960s onwards, was acquired in London.Condition: Good condition with little old wear, shallow surface scratches, mostly to the gilt, a small chip to the rim, some manufacturing irregularities such as kiln grit, pitting, and dark spots.
