A POLYCHROME BELL-SHAPED CUP, QING DYNASTYChina, 1644-1912. With deep rounded sides rising from a tall and slightly spreading foot to a flared rim, decorated with polychrome enamels above the glaze, with a craggy rock formation overgrown with peonies and chrysanthemums, two butterflies in flight, framed by double circle lines in underglaze blue. The recessed base with an apocryphal six-character Jiajing reign mark within a double circle.Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear, and manufacturing flaws such as minor fritting to the margin.Weight: 74 gDimensions: Diameter 7.5, height 7.1 cm
