A SQUARE 'FERN' BOWL, LATE QING DYNASTYChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Of square shape with slightly flaring rim, the exterior finely painted in enamels, depicting four landscapes each within a lobed reserve amid gold ferns on green background. The interior with a wave border and fern motif. A double circle to the exterior of the foot rim. The recessed base with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua reign mark within a circle.Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, light surface scratches and manufacturing imperfections.Weight: 299.4 gDimensions: Width 11.7 cm, height 6.2 cm
