A THANGKA OF EKADASHAMUKHA AVALOKITESHVARATibet, c. 1900s. Distemper on cloth. Depicting the bodhisattva with eleven heads and eight arms, adorned in an elaborate dhoti, flowing patterned robes and jewelry, with two hands held together in namaskara mudra, one held out in varada mudra, and the other hands each holding a different attribute including a dharma wheel, a mala, a lotus blossom, a bow, and a long-life vessel, standing against a halo radiating golden threads of light, atop a large lotus flower emerging from the water. Framed by a fine brocade mounting. Inscriptions to backside.Provenance: Private collection, Belgium. Acquired in Ladakh in August 1985.Condition: Very good condition, minor creasing, the fabric mount with stains and minor material loss.Dimensions: Image size 68.8 x 44.5 cm, Size 116 x 69.5 (incl. mounting)
