The wide rounded sides rising from a flat circular base, decorated in the Chinese imari colour palette, enamelled with a kylin among ribbons of flame and scrolling peony in underglaze blue and iron-red with gilt highlights, and a fenghuang with elaborate tail feathers perched on rockwork among bamboo, the base glazed, together with wood cover.
