The skilful carver has open-worked the lower part to depict its subject. It has also enhanced it with engraved and incised details such as the hair. Sold together with a matching wooden collector stand. Pieces either bought privately or at public auction. Note: A boy together with a lotus sprig conveys the wish ‘tongzi lianzi’ (童子莲子) standing for a continuous and harmonious descent.
