A similar label in the Schreiber Collection is illustrated by Egan Mew, Battersea Enamels (1926), fig.20 (top right). These and the other Battersea tickets have the title painted in black, different titles often being found on labels of the same design. The title on the present lot is printed, suggesting the name was engraved later, probably in Birmingham after the Battersea 1756 bankruptcy sale.
