The enamel group into which this bottle fits, often uses color tones of green or blue, emulating the green-blue landscapes of Tang dynasty painting. This bottle is enameled however with both color palettes with the blue palette being used to frame the main scene on each side. Both color tones are vivid against the brownish-purple clay.
