AN ENAMELED STONEWARE SNUFF BOTTLE1800-1900 Of slender, elongated, ovoid form with shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck and with an oval foot, enameled using green and white colors on one main side with a rabbit seated on a leaf looking at grasses beside it, below lines of a related inscription followed by three characters probably referring to the artist's name, possibly reading Jiang Ruding; the reverse with a series of calligraphic inscriptions in regular and archaic script from a Shang dynasty bronze jue vessel, the base with an impressed mark, jun de (a virtuous and talented person); stopper. 3in (7.5cm) high 1800-1900 陶胎畫琺琅飾卯兔銘文鼻煙壺一件 Provenance: C.G. Sloan & Co., November 1989 Joan and Ted Dorf Collection, no. 62 A similar stoneware bottle, also decorated in green and white enamels and with the same base mark was sold at Christie's New York on March 23, 2022, lot 897, from the Rachelle R. Holden sale. The Holden bottle was dated to autumn of the bingzi year, corresponding to 1816 or 1876.
