A PALE CELADON JADE FIGURE OF A MANDARIN FISH AND LOTUS, 18TH CENTURY China. The large fish modeled with raised mouth and puckered lips grasping a stem of lotus, the body outlined by a tall serrated dorsal fin and tail, the eyes and gills finely incised, a large lotus leaf and blossom nestled against its body. The translucent stone of a pale celadon tone with icy and cloudy inclusions and dark specks.

Provenance: From an estate in Boston, USA.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor old wear and minuscule nibbles to exposed areas. The stone with microscopic natural fissures. Fine silky matte polish overall.
