AN EARLY GRAY SANDSTONE TORSO OF VISHNU, PRE-ANGKOR PERIOD
Cambodia, 8th-9th century. Carved with four arms, wearing a dhoti, tied at the waist with a fold falling neatly between the legs.
Provenance: A German private estate. Dannenberg Auktionen, Berlin, Germany, 16 September 2019, lot 1563, acquired from the above. RD Collection Paris, acquired from the above.
Condition: Good condition, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, signs of weathering and erosion, minor losses, encrustations, nicks, scratches, few structural cracks, a drilled aperture to the neck.
