Napoleon III Clock, France, 19th century. Gilded bronze and marble. Measures: 50 x 52 x 17 cm. Table clock, from the Napoleon III period, made of bronze and white marble. The piece is supported on six gilt legs in the shape of a chamfered ball with incised decoration, which were common in the style of the period. The marble base has a rectangular structure with rounded side profiles, and the central area is forward, creating an interplay of volumes. A gilded bronze band leads to the marble body, which has the same structure as the base, although in this case the ornamentation is greater. Garlands of flowers in bronze are superimposed on the body, and finish off the lower part of the watch case, which is designed with a white dial, black Roman numerals and gilded, openwork hands. Finally, the piece ends with the sculptural presence of two children represented as little lovebirds.
