Large pair of shoulder vases type Hu, South China, Qing dynasty(1644-1911), c. 1800, porcelain with greenish shining celadon glaze mount, polychrome glaze painting, enamel and gold paint, vase with high shoulder and with wide projecting mouth funnel designed after the ritual bronze Hu, in the mouth funnel three flowering peony branches, at the neck two dragon handles, decorative bands with auspicious motifs: colourful bats in clouds or between peaches, butterflies between peaches, butterflies and flowers on a bed of vines, cranes between clouds on a bed of vines, the main motif is the decorative band of the so-called hundred variations of the character for long life (chin. baishou), both vases mounted on laurel wreath bases in classical style, 49x22cm each
