A large parcel gilt Münster Baroque silver beaker made for Gerhard Jodokus v. Lethmate Tapering beaker with moulded rim on three pomegranate supports. Decorated throughout with acanthus foliage surrounding mythical beasts and dogs. The lid with corresponding decor and a pomegranate finial. Engraved with the coat-of-arms of the von Lethmate barons below and monogrammed "G.I.L." H 21.5 cm, weight 489 g. Slightly mis-struck maker`s mark "...K", presumably that of Bernard Kemnitz, c. 1680. Baron Gerhard Jodokus von Lethmate was born around 1630 as the second son of Johann von Lethmate and Anna von Beesten - and held the office of Rentmeister of Rheine and Bevergern from 1667 onwards. Großer Münsteraner Barock-Deckelbecher , für Gerhard Jodokus v. Lethmate Silber; teilweise vergoldet. Auf drei Granatapfelfüßen konischer Korpus mit profiliertem Lippenrand; die Wandung mit getriebenem Akanthus zwischen fein ziselierten Darstellungen von Fabelwesen und Hunden. Der aufgewölbte Deckel mit entsprechendem Dekor und Granatapfelknauf. Unter dem Boden das gravierte Wappen der Freiherren v. Lethmate mit dem Monogramm "G.I.L." Marken: BZ Münster, leicht verschlagenes MZ ...K, wohl Bernard Kemnitz (1673 - 1686/87, vgl. Scheffler Westfalen Nr. 901, 78). H 21,5 cm, Gewicht 489 g. Münster, wohl Bernard Kemnitz, um 1680. Gerhard Jodokus Frhr. v. Lethmate wurde um 1630 als zweiter Sohn des Johann v. Lethmate und der Anna v. Beesten geboren - und hatte ab 1667 das Amt des Rentmeisters von Rheine und Bevergern inne.
