A Meissen porcelain Augustus Rex vase with "indianische Blumen" Vessel of hexagonal section with concave base, bulbous central node and flaring rim. Each of the six faces decorated with flowers, birds and rice straw bundles amid shrubs and rocks in an Oriental style, picked out in colours and gilded. The node and base each painted with three different flowering sprig motifs, the ribs with floral garlands suspended from large iron red chrysanthemum flowers. The individual sections of the piece divided by mouldings. Unglazed base with blue conjoined AR monogram. With a reattached breakage in the upper section. H 32, upper D 20.7 cm. C. 1730 - 35. Two other identical vases are known and published, one of them is in the possession of the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin (inv. no. HF 61), and before that was part of the Darmstaedter collection, Berlin. The second vase, from the collection of Sarah Jane Sanford Pansa in New York, was shown in Düsseldorf and Dresden in 1997. The present lot probably once belonged to the same set of vases; it may have been a seven-piece set, as presented at the anniversary exhibition in 2010, or one of several identical vases forming part of the wall decoration in the Japanisches Palais. Auf den sechs Wandungsseiten sechs verschiedene Darstellungen von farbigem, goldgehöhtem Strauchdekor über Felsen bzw. Reisstrohbündel mit großen indianischen Blumen und Vögeln. Auf Nodus und Fuß je drei verschiedene Blütenzweigmotive. Auf den Graten Blütenblattgirlanden, die von großen eisenroten Chrysanthemenblüten herabhängen. Die einzelnen Gefäßteile horizontal durch vergoldete Profilstreifen abgetrennt. Unglasierter Boden mit Blaumarke ligiertes AR. Wieder eingefügter Ausbruch der oberen Wandung. H 32, oberer D 20,7 cm. Meissen, um 1730 - 35. Zwei weitere gleiche Vasen sind bekannt und publiziert, eine davon befindet sich im Besitz des Kunstgewerbemuseums Berlin (Inv.Nr. HF 61), davor Sammlung Darmstaedter, Berlin. Die zweite Vase wurde 1997 in Düsseldorf und Dresden gezeigt, mit der Provenienz Sammlung Sarah Jane Sanford Pansa, New York. Wahrscheinlich gehörte die vorgestellte Vase ehemals zum selben Vasensatz, denkbar wäre entweder eine siebenteilige Garnitur, wie sie auf der Jubiläumsausstellung 2010 präsentiert wurde, oder mehrere gleiche Vasen als Teil der Wanddekoration im Japanischen Palais.
