Description

A Meissen porcelain plate from the dinner service for Count Sulkowski Sulkowski-Ozier model decorated in the centre with the count`s arms of alliance supported by two lions, surrounded by scattered "indianische blumen". Blue crossed swords mark with blue painter`s mark / in the basal ring, dreher`s mark with an impressed cross. Wear to the decor. D 23.5 cm. 1738, model by Johann Joachim Kaendler. This service, which was produced in Meissen for the Saxon minister Aleksander Józef Reichsgraf von Sulkowski and his wife Maria Anna Franziska von Stain zu Jettingen from 1735, is one of the first large orders that was not made directly for August III and in which Johann Joachim Kaendler was involved as a modeller. How large this order was can only be guessed at. It is assumed that a total of about 600 pieces were produced, mostly plates, platters and shallow bowls. Production came to an abrupt end in 1738, when the Imperial Count fell from grace and was banished from court. Provenance Private collection, Palatinate. Teller aus dem Tafelservice für den Grafen Sulkowski Porzellan, farbiger Aufglasurdekor, Vergoldung. Modell Sulkowski-Ozier.
