Description A BRONZE 'HOPE' VASE, BY NAKAJIMA MITSUO YASUMI II (1906-1988)Japan, mid Showa Period (1955-1965). The vase with a long neck and everted rim rising from a stylized tulip bud. Signed to the base Yasumi in seal script. This type of vase bears the name 'hope' (kibo).Condition: Very good condition, minor wear, few light surface scratches, and casting flaws. Provenance: Dutch collection.Weight: 1,692 gDimensions: Height 29.4 cmThree generations of the Yasumi family were metal artists working in Osaka. All three worked in richly colored purple-red bronze (seido).Yasumi II(1906-1988) is the artist name of Nakajima Mitsuo, his work is characterized by flowing, elegant lines and abstract forms.
