Description A BLUE AND WHITE ARITA IMARI PORCELAIN DISH 'TIGER AND BAMBOO', MEIJIJapan, Meiji period (1868-1912), late 19th century. The shallow rounded sides rising from a short foot, the interior painted in underglaze blue depicting a tiger next to bamboo, its body twisted as if it just leaped out from its lair.Condition: Very good condition, some wear, light surface scratches, and manufacturing flaws including kiln grit and spur marks.Provenance: From the collection of Teddy Hahn, Darmstadt, and thence by descent to the present owner.
