KOSON OHARA (1877 - 1945) Showa period, later impression A Japanese woodblock print, oban tate-e, Snow on the Willow Bridge, showing two women struggle against the winter wind crossing the Yangibashi (willow bridge) over Kanda river in Tokyo, signed and sealed Shoson, published by Shozaburo Watanabe, first edition 1927, unframed 39.5cm high, 26.5cm long - PROVENANCE: English Private Collection, purchased at Christie's London An impression of this print is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, accession no 47.56. Koson specialised in depictions on animals, birds in particular, in smaller formats. This work however became one of his most sought after designs.
