SHIBATA ZESHIN (attributed to 1807 – 1891) Untitled Meiji period, dated 1867 A pair of Japanese hanging scroll paintings, kakejiku, ink and colour on silk, signed Zeshin, stamped with artist seals, inscribed, cyclically dated Hino no u (the year of the fire rabbit) and apanied by an inscribed tomobako box each 146cm high, 27.5cm long (4) - PROVENANCE: English Private Collection, acquired from Hiroshi Yanagi at Tokyo Gallery, Kyoto in the 1990s A set of four very similar four scrolls by Zeshin sold at Bohnams Hong Kong 20 – 27th August 2020, lot 105.
