AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVAChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The bodhisattva standing atop an elaborate lotus base, rising from a separately cast rectangular four-legged stand with open sides. The deity wearing loose-fitting voluminous robes and fine jewelry, a flaming mandorla affixed to the back. The figure decorated with finely incised archaistic patterns.Condition: Good condition with minor traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite, cuprite, and azurite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
