AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A BACTRIAN CAMELChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The standing Bactrian camel with its tall hair-lined neck elegantly reared back, the head raised, the mouth open exposing its teeth, the camel’s back with its two humps and a saddle, decorated with floral and geometric patterns. The figure adorned with finely incised archaistic motifs as well as mythical creatures with flames, spirals, and horns.Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite, cuprite, and azurite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
