AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A DEERChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The deer with a slender but muscular body, positioned in a recumbent pose, with its feet tucked underneath the body, the head turned back towards its swirled tail, and with long pointed ears. The figure surmounted on a rectangular base and the body adorned with neatly incised archaistic patterns and zoomorphic elements.Condition: Good condition with minor surface wear, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
