DescriptionLarge and very finely detailed Thai, Rattanakosin period, bronze Sakyamuni seated Buddha; the bronze with black lacquer beneath cold gilt with layers of red lacquer; the seated Buddha elaborately dressed as a king with finely detailed robes in bhumisparsha mudra (calling the earth to witness) with legs crossed, the multi-tiered crown toped with elaborate high finial; the ears, shoulders and knees adorned with wingtips representing light; seated atop royal carpet on three tiered pavilion, each pavilion tier with highly decorative motifs in relief, allover adorned with cut mirrors representing his reflection within the universe, the back of the bronze with two ringlets; overall very fine condition with minor loss to gilt, losses to back section as shown in images; L 15 1/2" x H 19 1/2" (Approx.)
